DESCRIPTION
Ethicon Vicryl Absorbable Surgical Sutures VP 2317 are a sterile and synthetic suture product specially designed for various surgical applications. These sutures are composed of polyglactin, a biocompatible material consisting of 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide, which ensures excellent tissue compatibility. One of the distinguishing features of these sutures is their calcium stearate coating, which aids in smooth tissue passage during suturing, minimizing tissue trauma. This coating contributes to the ease of handling and knot tying, making it a preferred choice for surgeons. Ethicon Vicryl Sutures are intended for short-term wound support in cases where superficial skin and mucosa approximation are required. These absorbable sutures undergo gradual absorption through hydrolysis, starting with a decrease in tensile strength and followed by a reduction in mass. It's important to note that these sutures are not suitable for tissues requiring prolonged extended approximation.
